EcoCash yesterday launched its ChakaChaya neEcoCash Promotion with great fanfare in the capital, Harare, as the country’s largest fintech company unveiled more than US$400 000 worth of life-changing prizes to be won – including 10 brand new vehicles – in this year’s edition of the popular promotion.
The promotion, which officially kicked off yesterday (Thursday, June 18, 2026), rewards customers for using EcoCash’s growing suite of digital financial services and is now its 8th year running.
Besides the chance to win a brand-new car, this year participating customers across Zimbabwe stand a chance to win several prizes, including solar systems, cash rewards, smartphones, all-expenses-paid holiday packages to the Victoria Falls, deep freezers, grocery vouchers and a host of other exciting prizes.
Kicking off with a colourful roadshow in Harare, the launch of this year’s campaign was marked by a vibrant parade that made its way from Arundel in Mt Pleasant through Harare’s Central Business District and on to Mbare, drawing crowds of excited customers heralding the return of what is now widely regarded as Zimbabwe’s biggest and most anticipated consumer promotions.
Since its introduction in 2018, ChakaChaya neEcoCash has grown into a premier national consumer promotion, allowing thousands of customers to win millions of dollars worth of prizes, ranging from vehicles, cows, household appliances, solar systems, airtime, grocery vouchers and dream holidays.
EcoCash said the promotion reflects the company’s commitment to rewarding customer loyalty while accelerating the adoption of digital financial services.
“ChakaChaya has grown into a highly anticipated nationwide success story because it puts customers at the centre.
“Every day, millions of Zimbabweans use EcoCash to send money, buy airtime, pay bills, receive remittances and make merchant payments. Through this promotion, EcoCash is saying ‘Thank you’ to its customers and rewarding them with the opportunity to win prizes that can make a meaningful difference in their lives,” the company said in a statement.
How the campaign works is simple: customers earn points whenever they make an EcoCash transaction using either their USD or ZWG wallets. Every US$1 or ZWG equivalent transaction earns one point. Transactions such as receiving diaspora remittances through EcoCash and payments made through the new EcoCash Super App attract double points, allowing customers to accumulate points faster and improve their chances of winning.
To qualify for weekly prize draws, customers must earn at least 30 points within a given week. Those who accumulate 500 points or more during the promotion period will automatically qualify for the grand prize draw, where the biggest prizes will be won.
This year’s ChakaChaya neEcoCash Promotion comes at a time the fintech business continues to expand its digital footprint and offerings through the recently launched EcoCash Super App. The promotion also seeks to encourage greater participation in the ever-growing EcoCash ecosystem, by rewarding new customer registrations and downloads of the EcoCash Super App with free airtime incentives.
To ensure a fair distribution of winning opportunities for all customers, EcoCash has intentionally spread the prize draws in more than 30 different geographical locations across the nation – including Bulawayo, Masvingo, Gweru, Mutare, Chinhoyi, Chipinge and Mt Darwin – among many others.
These will be supervised by independent auditors to ensure transparency, and winners will be notified via SMS and announced on EcoCash’s official digital platforms.
