Econets’s Ecocash mobile money service has proven its determination as the most innovative mobile money service in Zimbabwe, ecocash last week closed a deal with Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission Distribution Corporation (ZETDC) to sell prepaid ZESA vouchers.
ZESA’s least prepaid token is priced at $5 hence a purchase of less than $5 will not allow you to buy a electricity voucher. Ecocash has over six million customers, which translate to about 80 percent of Zimbabwe’s adult population and close to 26 000 agents in Zimbabwe with some over US$6,6 billion going through the Ecocash platform the past 12 months.
There are two methods to buy ZESA here
Method 1: Using the *151# USSD
- Dial *151#
- Select option 2: “Make Payment”
- Choose “Pay ZESA”
- Select “Buy Token”
- Enter “Amount”
- Enter “Meter Number”
- Confirm and Get Your Token
Or you can use the EcoCash Mobile App,
- Open the app
- Select “Make Payments”
- Select “Bill”
- Choose “ZESA”
- Follow the rest of the prompts and you are done.
