EcoCash Tariffs Slashed

Econet Wireless has slightly reduced charges its charges for sending and receiving money to EcoCash users, starting this month (1 August). A notice from the telecommunications firm indicates charges for sending money through EcoCash to both registered and non-registered ranges from $0.11 to $6.92 down from $1 to $20.

This comes a little over a month after it also reduced merchant payment fees by up to 50%.

Effective from the 1st of August 2017 the cost of an Ecocash to EcoCash transfer will range from 11 cents for the $1 minimum to $6.92 for the $500 maximum transfer amount.

The biggest reduction is for sending money to an unregistered EcoCash user. Tariffs for this have been lowered by as much as $1 from $7.95 for the $500 maximum.

Those who send between $10 to $20 would be charged $0.37 from $0.62. The same transaction costs $0.30 with Telecel’s Telecash service.

Amounts ranging from $75 to $100 now cost $1.69 through EcoCash compared to $0.94 charge for the same transaction via Telecash.
