The operator continues to consolidate its role as Zimbabwe’s second-largest telecom player, showing resilience in an increasingly competitive environment.Subscriber Base and Market ShareNetOne closed Q2 2025 with 4.8 million active subscribers, representing 22.7% market share. This was a slight increase from 22.3% in the previous quarter, indicating that the company is steadily capturing new customers despite economic challenges. While Econet still dominates with over 65% of the market, NetOne remains well ahead of Telecel, which has under 12%.
Revenue Growth
In terms of financial performance, NetOne posted revenues of approximately ZWL 214 billion, a growth of 12% compared to Q1 2025. The bulk of this growth was powered by mobile data, which now accounts for over 60% of NetOne’s service revenue. The shift highlights a broader industry trend where voice services are declining while internet services drive operator earnings.
Data Usage Surge
Data consumption on NetOne’s network rose by 15% quarter-on-quarter, driven by rising smartphone penetration and affordable bundle offerings. The operator’s ongoing LTE/4G expansion contributed to improved user experience, helping it retain and attract customers in urban and peri-urban areas.
Mobile Money Performance
OneMoney, NetOne’s mobile money service, recorded modest growth in Q2. It processed ZWL 54 billion in transactions, up from ZWL 49 billion in Q1, giving it a 7% share of the mobile money market. While EcoCash continues to dominate, NetOne’s integration of OneMoney with data bundles and loyalty promotions is helping the service gain traction.
