People Are Still Talking to Ginimbi on Instagram — Years After His Death!

More than four years after his passing, the Instagram page of the late Zimbabwean socialite Ginimbi remains unexpectedly active — not with new posts, but with new conversations.

Scrolling through the comments on his last uploads and you will find messages that read like updates sent to a friend who is simply away.

“Happy New Year Boss — we are now in 2026,”* one follower wrote recently, punctuated with a crying emoji. Others say “Rest well,” while many continue to address him directly as “Boss G”— sharing jokes, life updates, and even festive greetings.

Some comments are deeply personal and written in Shona, reflecting how close many Zimbabweans felt to him. One reads, “Nhas Christmas boss G, tenge tichirova ma coolayo,” loosely translating to a casual Christmas greeting as if Ginimbi were still part of everyday life.

Another commenter joked about updating him on celebrity gossip, while others simply acknowledge the collective loss: “The way people give Boss G updates on this post — people miss him.”

Ginimbi, born Genius Kadungure, died in November 2021 following a tragic car accident that also claimed the lives of several others. His death shocked the nation and sparked intense debate around celebrity culture, wealth, and responsibility.

At the time, even international media, including the BBC, reported on the incident and the massive public reaction that followed.Yet what is happening now on his Instagram page is different. It is quieter, more intimate. There is no controversy — just remembrance. In the age of social media, profiles no longer go silent when life ends.

Instead, they become digital memorials. For Ginimbi’s followers, commenting on his page seems to be a way of grieving, honoring, and keeping a connection alive. It is a reminder that influence does not end with death — and that for many, Ginimbi was more than a flashy socialite. He was a symbol of ambition, confidence, and living loudly.

Years later, the messages continue. And in those comments, Ginimbi still lives.
