Dark Fiber Africa Zimbabwe (DFA) is set to boost internet access across the country through a strategic partnership with Starlink. The collaboration will see DFA leverage Starlink’s satellite technology for backhauling and service distribution, expanding internet connectivity to its customers.
DFA Chief Commercial Officer, Tongai Tanhara, revealed that the partnership will be activated once Starlink secures the necessary license to operate in Zimbabwe. In this arrangement, DFA will focus on connecting end-users to the internet, while Starlink manages the satellite transponders and ground stations.
Tanhara emphasized DFA’s readiness to collaborate with various telecommunications operators, including Starlink, to expand internet services in the country. The company is particularly enthusiastic about the potential to extend services to existing customers through the partnership with Starlink.
“We are eager to work with operators like Starlink and others to launch and expand their services in Zimbabwe,” said Tanhara. “This collaboration will significantly enhance connectivity in underserved areas, complementing existing technologies.”
DFA’s partnership with Starlink is part of a broader strategy to collaborate with multiple telecommunications providers. The company is open to partnerships with all licensed operators in the country, aiming to create a robust and inclusive digital ecosystem.
By combining DFA’s fiber infrastructure with Starlink’s satellite technology, the partnership promises to deliver improved internet access and bridge the digital divide in Zimbabwe.
