The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) yesterday handed over goods procured for the less privileged using proceeds from the POTRAZ Charity Golf Day which was held earlier in the year.
The handover ceremony was held at POTRAZ’s head office in Harare. It was attended by beneficiaries from Mashonaland East and Mashonaland Central provinces, as well as representatives from the Department of Social Welfare in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare.
In his speech, POTRAZ Director General, Dr. G. K. Machengetse, said that the Authority was humbled by the enormous support that it had received through the charity golf tournament. He said that the proceeds from the tournament had been used to procure foodstuffs, blankets, toiletries, and other necessities for the beneficiaries.
Dr. Machengetse also thanked the Department of Social Welfare for their partnership in the project, and all the individuals and corporates who had contributed to the success of the tournament. He said that the goods that were being handed over would make a significant difference in the lives of the beneficiaries.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Susan Moyo, said that she was grateful for the support that she had received from POTRAZ. She said that the goods that she had received would help her provide for her family.
Another beneficiary, Mr. John Ncube, said that he was excited to receive the goods. He said that he would use them to improve his living conditions.
The handover ceremony was a success and it is clear that POTRAZ is committed to making a difference in the lives of the less privileged. The Authority is to be commended for its efforts and it is hoped that other organizations will follow suit.
