Hytera Technology Helps ZimParks Reduce Wildlife Poaching

Hytera Communications, a global leader in professional communications, has partnered with Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) to help reduce wildlife poaching. The partnership has seen Hytera provide ZimParks with digital mobile radios (DMRs) and dispatching software, which has improved the safety of park rangers and made it easier for them to track down poachers.

ZimParks manages approximately 5 million hectares of land, making it difficult for rangers to patrol the entire area without the right equipment. The DMRs provided by Hytera provide long-range communication, even in areas with poor cellphone reception. This has allowed rangers to stay in contact with each other and with headquarters, even when they are deep in the bush.

The dispatching software provided by Hytera also gives rangers a better overview of the park. This allows them to quickly identify areas where poaching is occurring and to deploy resources accordingly. As a result of the partnership with Hytera, ZimParks has seen a significant reduction in wildlife poaching. In 2022, there were only 36 key wildlife animals poached, down from 42 in 2021.

“We are very pleased with the results of our partnership with Hytera,” said Mr. Tinashe Farawo, spokesperson for ZimParks. “The DMRs and dispatching software have made a real difference in our ability to protect our wildlife. We are committed to working with Hytera to continue to reduce wildlife poaching and to protect our natural resources.”

Hytera is committed to supporting conservation efforts around the world. The company has a long history of working with governments and organizations to help protect wildlife. In addition to its work with ZimParks, Hytera has also provided communications equipment to help protect wildlife in other countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia.

“We are proud to be working with ZimParks to help protect Zimbabwe’s wildlife,” said Mr. Eric Xu, CEO of Hytera Communications. “We believe that everyone has a responsibility to protect our natural resources, and we are committed to doing our part.”
