NetOne Warns Dealers Overpricing SIM Cards

NetOne, a telecommunications operator in Zimbabwe, has warned that any dealer or agency found overpricing the company’s products will be blacklisted as a distributor of NetOne products.

NetOne, a telecommunications operator in Zimbabwe, has warned that any dealer or agency found overpricing the company’s products will be blacklisted as a distributor of NetOne products.

The mobile network operator launched a campaign to intensify its distribution channels across the country to counter parallel market speculators, who have been selling NetOne’s SIM cards at a higher price than their official rate.

NetOne’s CEO, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, has assured customers that they can purchase SIM cards at an affordable official price of US$1 or the Zimbabwe dollar equivalent at the interbank rate through any of its distribution channels, including Zimpost outlets, NetOne shops, and authorized dealers.

NetOne has also encouraged its customers to report any overpricing of SIM cards or related products to official channels, including social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok.

“We are aware that some dealers are overpricing our SIM cards and other products,” said Mushanawani. “We want to assure our customers that we are taking this matter seriously and we will not hesitate to take action against any dealers found to be violating our sales standards.”

NetOne’s move to crack down on overpricing comes amid reports that some dealers have been taking advantage of the increased demand for the company’s products to sell them at inflated prices.

In recent months, NetOne has seen a surge in demand for its SIM cards and other products, following a series of network challenges experienced by its rival, Econet Wireless.

Econet Wireless is the largest mobile network operator in Zimbabwe, with a market share of over 70%. However, the company has been struggling to meet the growing demand for its services, due to a number of factors, including a shortage of foreign currency.

The challenges faced by Econet Wireless have created an opportunity for NetOne, which has been able to attract new customers by offering its products at a more competitive price.

However, the surge in demand for NetOne’s products has also led to some dealers taking advantage of the situation by overpricing them.

NetOne’s move to crack down on overpricing is a welcome development for consumers, who have been paying inflated prices for the company’s products.

The company’s decision to blacklist dealers found to be violating its sales standards is a clear message that it will not tolerate profiteering at the expense of its customers.

NetOne’s customers can be assured that the company is committed to providing them with affordable products and services.
