Paynow is now a renowned Fintech providing various e-commerce solutions. During the past 8 years Paynow has built a tradition of excellence in providing its customers with innovative payment solutions for a variety of industries. This Fintech organization has continuously worked closely with its customers, merchants, billers and partners to identify and develop an array of e-commerce solutions to meet their unique requirements. As part of commemorating this milestone year, Paynow host a number of its top custermers at an even held at a local hotel. Currently the platform is integrated with over 14100 merchants, 1517 verified companies and formally registered business and over 60 large billers – all of whom have made a significant contribution towards Paynow’s growth and development over the years.
Speaking at the event ambassador james manzou, permanent secretary of
ministry of industry & commerce said “Paynow has made significant strides in the provision of a ubiquitous and seamless multi-payment platform, promulgated by enhanced user experience. Their platform has promoted interoperability whilst reducing roadblocks to seamless payments.”
“I have just been advised that this service has now been extended to previously marginalised segments of society through the recently launched USSD platform *828#, which is highly commendable and resonates well with the country’s financial inclusion agenda. I believe that the Managing Director and his team have the requisite skills, integrity and gravitas to continue building on the foundation they have laid to date, within the Fintech space and as a Ministry, we extend our gratitude for their efforts to date.” He added.
According to Paynow, its solutions are designed to provide seamless convenience, and simplify several standard routine procedures that previously required high levels of attentiveness, time and manual input through the automation of these processes. This has not only helped various merchants, billers and partners to optimize their time and efforts towards solving other complicated and sophisticated tasks, but has provided access to real time transaction updates at a click of a button.
Speaking at the same event , Paynow Managing Director – Vusi Ndebele, Said “Standing here today, I am deeply touched, remembering the time when Paynow was just an idea, born out of frustration with the status quo, and as industry outsiders we decided to do it anyway. To build the foundations for e-commerce to be viable in Zimbabwe. To lessen the friction and reduce the cost of trading. To enable business new business models.”
“To this end, by being empathetic to the stakeholders at the very end of the chain and promoting interoperability, we have 14,000 e-commerce merchants from every sector of the economy who trust Paynow us as their payments and e-commerce partner. On the other end, over a million unique customers have transacted through our platforms.” He added.
The fastest growth category of e-commerce sales over the past two years were furniture, building materials, and electronics which cumulatively grew more than 200% since 2019. Food and beverage e-commerce grew 170%, representing 9.6% of all grocery sales in 2021 according to eMarketer. Apparel was one of the few categories of e-commerce to grow slower than the industry average at 39%.
