BAZ Extends TV And Radio Licence Applications Deadline

The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) has extended the deadline to submit licensing applications for television and community radio stations for a second time, The Chronicle reported.  BAZ intends to license six national commercial TV stations, ten community radio stations and nineteen campus radio stations for ten year. The deadline was initially 20 March then this was extended to 29 May, but this is now postponed to 30 June for TV and 31 July for radio.

Applicants are required to take note of the amendments to the application forms. For TV applications, the fee is USD 42,500, the public inquiries cost is USD 127,500 and the annual licence fee is USD 306,000. Community radio stations will pay USD 8,500 as application fee and if successful they will be required to pay USD 17,000 per annum in licence fees.
