Hummer is back but not as the massive, V8-powered SUV you remember. This time, the so-called GMC Hummer EV comes as a fully electric truck with more than 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts), with both on- and off-road capabilities.
The company teased the new vehicle on its website, where it shared details on the performance of the truck. The Hummer EV is GMC’s first fully electric vehicle (and, shockingly, rumored since 2014) and the first electric truck for GM.
GMC did not reveal information about the EV’s maximum range or battery size, however, which could be key factors for potential buyers.
The Hummer EV will be revealed in full on May 20, but GM is already touting ridiculous performance stats in this buzz clip for its 30-second spot. How ridiculous? Try 1,000 horsepower and 0-to-60 mph in 3 seconds.
“GMC builds premium and capable trucks and SUVs and the GMC Hummer EV takes this to new heights,” says Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC. “We are excited to debut our revolutionary zero-emissions truck during the biggest night in TV advertising.”
The Hummer, H2, and H3 have been slammed for being extremely fuel-heavy.
The Hummer H2, for example, has consumption figures of 26L/100km (under 4km per litre).
