Muzinda Hub has officially started taking applications for the 2020 Digital Skills Training Program in Namibia and they are looking for motivated men and women looking to learn how to code through its five months program.
Muzinda Hub, founded in 2014 to help combat youth unemployment and empower young Zimbabweans with globally relevant skills. To date, Muzinda hub been able to expand the projects to other parts of Africa like Botswana and now Namibia.

signed an all Africa exclusive agreement with Treehouse, a global online
training platform for coding. Treehouse offers a variety of programming
languages and is also a Google certified training partner for Android app
development.
The Namibia Hub
will be based in Windhoek and will operate as a franchise similar to Muzinda
Botswana which President Masisi of Botswana launched in August.
According to Muzinda hub, Over the years they’ve seen a number of our alumni getting opportunities in Namibia and it made sense to set-up a hub in Namibia to develop tech talent that will serve the market there.
“According to a 2018 labor force survey for Namibia, the country has a 46% youth unemployment rate and we would like to replicate the success we see in Zimbabwe and hope to create as many digital jobs opportunities as we can. We are very excited about the opportunity and looking forward to playing a preparing Namibian youth for a digital future. We are going for an intake of 500 students for 2020.” Muzinda Hub said.
The platform will
give an opportunity to the 500 enrolled participants to get training on areas
of coding, entrepreneurship and project designing and they are expected to
complete training.
“Applications are now open and will close on 10 January 2020. Even though the physical hub will be located in Windhoek we will also be taking applications from other parts of the country on our remote training model.” Muzinda Hub added.
After the 6 months of training, it’s expected that the students will be well-bred software developers. This is so that they’ll be in a position to create apps, develop websites, work as freelancers or get full-time or part-time employment. This is strategic because coding is one of the most in-demand skills in the world nowadays. Based on their database of alumni they postulate that about 70% of the students will end up as freelancers raking in a combined income of USD6.3 million.
