Indian phone manufacturer, Lava, has targeted the Kenyan phone market with affordable feature smartphones in an effort to further grow their market share in Kenya as well as develop in Sudan, Ghana and Nigeria.
In January, Lava launched the Z series, Iris series smartphones and champion series feature phones in Ghana and Nigeria. The Z series is a 4G smartphone while the Iris series are for the value seeking customers. The manufacturer’s feature phone portfolio boosts affordability and a creative design which targets many customers.
The company launched Z81 in Kenya and Lava is planning to add value to both the Z series and Iris series in the beginning of April 2019. In Africa, Lava started its operations in 2017 starting with Egypt and the brand became fast gaining more than 15% market share in the sub $100 segment within a year of launch.
There are two smartphones that was launched by Lava and that is Z81 which has a 5.70-inch touchscreen display powered by 2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via a micro SD card. It also has a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and front camera for selfies.
Z81 runs Android 8.1 Oreo and is powered by a 3000mAh, and Z92 which comes with a 6.22-inch touchscreen display, powered by 2GHz octa-core processor and it comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via a micro SD card. As for the cameras, Z92 has a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and an 8-megapixel front for selfies. It runs Android and is powered by a 3260mAh.
