OneMoney has awarded the first batch of the 100 parents and guardians who won their school fees back into their Wallets in the 100% School Fees Back Promotion.
Speaking at the reward ceremony Netone acting managing director for Mobile Financial Services, Mr Nyaradzai Shoko, said “OneMoney, NetOne’s Mobile Financial Service was launched last year with the vision of creating better and happier everyday lives for millions of Zimbabweans.”
Mr Shoko added that the main goal was to lighten the burden for parents and schools as they pay fees and develop schools within Zimbabwe respectively.
The second edition of the Promotion was launched on the 12th August 2018 and now offers more value as it is now open to all players in the education space, i.e. primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
As part of the promotion, the first 100 parents who paid their fees using OneMoney and will get back their money. The first 20 schools to register and receive a minimum of $1,000 school fees in their accounts will each win $600 worth of prizes. Rural schools have a double opportunity as the first 30 rural schools to register and receive $400 into their biller accounts, get to receive $200 for school development.
In the tertiary institutions category, the first 100 university or college students who pay their fees from $1 to $300 using OneMoney gets $300 back into their account. A maximum 100 students stand a chance to win $50 semester opening vouchers in fortnightly prizes.
NetOne renounced its mobile money service on newly-acquired infrastructure which apparently offers better technology as it rebranded from OneWallet to OneMoney. And as of this writing had over 1 million subscribers.
Zimbabwe has been steadily moving towards a completely cashless society for a number of years. Cash is now used in less than 10% of all cash transactions in stores.
