Facebook Messenger For Kids

Seriously speaking, Facebook users should be 13 and above. But as we speak it is nearly impossible to stop our little ones from using Facebook. It is said that more than 15 million kids under the age of 13 are using Facebook. Stopping them is a waste of time. Many children in Zimbabwe are using Facebook despite the fact that they are too young to be on social media platforms.

For that reason, Facebook has launched its first app designed for young users. Before the kids could sign up, parental approval is needed. Messenger Kids is a simplified version of the messaging app Facebook for people over 13.

According to product manager for Messenger Kids, Loren Cheng “Parents are increasingly allowing their children to use tablets and smartphones, but often have questions and concerns about how their kids use them and which apps are appropriate,”

Facebook picked that there was need for apps that are tailored for children. Facebook needed to develop this app for kids as a way of curbing them from using the Facebook messenger for people above 13.

Messenger kids is amazing and it is safe for children. Personally, I think it is the best way of protecting the kids from cybercrimes as parents are also involved in checking the accounts of their kids and approving who can be friends with their kids.

If two children want to be friends on Messenger Kids, the friendship must be approved by a parent for each child. Once it has been thoroughly checked and confirmed safe, the kids can be friends. After that they can do some pretty cool stuff like doing live video chats sending pictures and texts to each other. Messenger kids is what every child wants and  what most parents have been waiting for

Adults who have been approved can also get in touch with their children through the app but they will get their messages through the normal Facebook Messenger app.
