WhatsApp already dominates the consumer messaging app segment with over a billion active users, and now it seems the company is now looking to emulate similar success in the business segment.
Launcher app shortcuts are now bring tested on WhatsApp for Android. These shortcuts will take you directly to a desired pre-mentioned place in-app as soon as you launch it. At the moment, there’s no word on when this feature will arrive for the general audience using stable builds as it only exists in the beta build right now.
The app shortcuts feature was first spotted by Android Police. The only issue with these launcher app shortcuts is that they sometimes miss the point and bring in more worry instead of allowing you to fulfil the essential stuff. For example, instead of allowing you to add a Status directly, or show your frequent or pinned chats, it gives you the option to open the camera, and the option to chat with people you don’t really chat with.
The latest update of WhatsApp for Windows Phone disallows users to add a “check mark” symbol in front of their name in the app, as pointed out in a report by MSPoweruser. While on surface it might not appear to be a big deal, it is being speculated to have been done in order to avoid confusion regarding the authenticity of the businesses in the future.
As per a report by WABeta Info, which has a history of providing credible information regarding upcoming WhatsApp updates, the app will be verifying business accounts with a check mark, much like the one on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, to provide them certain amount of authenticity while dealing with their customers.
We have been hearing about WhatsApp for Business since last year. The news about WhatsApp’s business plans went from rumour to going official this year and WhatsApp even announced that it would start the service in India and that the country would play a crucial role in the earlier days.
