City Of Harare To Switch To E-Statement For Environment

City Of Harare is gradually stopping paper statements and switching to online account statements for security and environment reasons.

The City fathers started sending SMS alert to its clients on Tuesday telling them it has decided to stop the paper service.

“Harare City Council is inviting property owners to submit their cellphone numbers and email address for Ease of bill notification. The City is sending bulk messages to its customers and wants all customers contact details captured for them receive SMS and e-statements. Customers now enjoy the comfort of bill Enquiry through our website (http://hararecity.co.zw)” they said.

The city told their customers they could view their account statements on their e-mail or by subscribing “online.”

E-statements are in the best interests of the issuing companies, since they save on paper and postage. Are they in your best interests as well?

With electronic records, their safety is only as good as the safety of your computer and all the paths you use to download them or access them. If you choose e-statements, make sure that you do not store them in a way that leaves them open to possible hackers. Never download or access your information on non-secure public systems i.e. computers you don’t trust.

In a recent statement, City Of Harare said the service would be free and by end of June 2017 customers will be able to pay their municipal bills online.

According to the city, the benefits of e-statement are:

Easy Access – e-statements will be delivered straight to email inbox, and clients can view, print and save the e-statement electronically anytime.

Organization – Organize account statements electronically.

Free – This service is free of cost and offers fast and convenient access.

Environmentally Friendly – Reduce impact on the environment by eliminating unnecessary paper. Going electronic is more environmentally friendly through saving paper. The trees, along with the banks, will thank you for your choice.
