We’ve all been there, sending a message we thought was funny, flirty or friendly only to read it back and only to wish we had not sent that txt. Many of us have at least one message we wish we had never sent.
Well, if latest reports are to be believed, WhatsApp is working on a way to help us recover those humiliating texts up to five minutes after we’ve send them.
The feature just appeared temporarily in the latest WhatsApp beta release, and it is thought to only work on messages that have not yet been read.
The feature is being tested on WhatsApp beta version 2.17.130 for Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile OS only. However, we assume WhatsApp to move its focus to Android and iOS soon.
Twitter account @WABetaInfo, first revealed details of the ‘unsend’ feature in the Android v2.17.150 beta.
The beta version also includes other features, including the ability to share your location with other users and a new font shortcuts.
WhatsApp will also add a new ‘change number’ feature, which allows users to more easily tell contact if they’ve got a new number. The ‘change number’ feature is disabled by default, so users must turn it ON to inform their friends they have changed their details.
WhatsApp has not publically confirmed the new features.
We should also keep in mind, WhatsApp regularly tests new features before they are released on the public, so we may or may not see Change Number and Live Location added to Android for a while. Do you think these new add-ons will be useful if they are added in future WhatsApp updates?
