Muzinda Hub, founded in 2014 to help combat youth unemployment and empower young Zimbabweans with a globally relevant skills, has so far managed to secure part-time and full-time employment opportunities for over 500 of its graduates through its job placement programme.
The Hub has also enrolled over 1,200 participants from across Zimbabwe on its flagship IT programming course, says Vimba Gwata, the Operations Manager.
She says Muzinda Hub is also working on fostering strong partnerships with organisations in need of well-trained, talented IT developers. Since establishment, in 2014, Muzinda Hub has been applying innovative efforts to combat the high youth unemployment rate within Zimbabwe. This has been achieved through empowering young adults, aged 18 – 35 years of age, with IT programming skills to make them more marketable for employment within the job market or inspire them to create websites and mobile applications that could earn them a living as freelancers.
It is against the background of the unpredictable and challenging job market in Zimbabwe that Muzinda Hub has and continues to help the young graduates secure employment, she says.
“Our vision is to produce world-class IT professionals to contribute to the growth and success of the African digital economy. We, at Muzinda Hub, are definitely taking proactive action by exposing participants to relevant, high-quality IT training, as well as offering top performers from our program the opportunity to be placed with great organisations or to work on IT development projects with us, once they graduate from the program,” she says.
